RemediChain Team

We are pharmacists who believe everyone should have access to the medication they need, regardless of financial status. Our nonprofit’s mission is to solve the financial and environmental problems of prescription waste by legally collecting unused, good condition prescription medication to share with patients who could not otherwise afford it. By treating extra medication as a resource and through partnerships with lawmakers, providers, advocates, pharmacists, nonprofits and patients, we strive to ensure no patient in need goes without.

Phil Baker, PharmD

PHIL BAKER, PharmD
Founder/Pharmacist

A Christian, a husband, and a father of six, Phil considers his role a vocation. After working in a community pharmacy, Phil became deeply troubled by the fact that millions of Americans cannot afford their prescriptions, while tons of those same prescriptions get thrown away every year. So he’s working to change that in pursuit of a patients-first pharmacy future. Phil believes pharmacists should be compensated based on the value they create, not the cost of the prescriptions they administer; that every patient deserves access to necessary prescription medication; that we can reduce prescription waste; and that together we can create opportunities to fundamentally redefine the pharmacy industry. LIZ ROBINSON
Program Director

It’s not easy to find a job doing what you love, but Liz enjoys helping people, and that’s her role at RemediChain. A cancer survivor herself, Liz’s vast experience in customer service and relations has provided her with a specific set of skills that now support the (literally) lifesaving work of matching donated medications with patients in need at RemediChain. She serves as a primary point of contact for nurse and patient navigators; pharmacists; physicians and individual patients who seek to donate medication or who need help getting their prescriptions. Ann Aukerman, CPhT, Inventory Director/Pharmacy Technician

ANN AUKERMAN, CPhT
Inventory Director/Pharmacy Technician

For Ann Aukerman, pharmacy started as a job, but it became a calling. Ann first pursued pharmacy technician training nearly 30 years ago, citing the ability to change jobs easily when her husband’s military career required a move. When her husband was diagnosed with leukemia, her motivation became personal. Medication affordability, especially among high-cost specialty prescriptions, is a life-altering concern for many people. In her role at RemediChain, Ann helps patients overcome that worry. Day-to-day, you’ll find her managing pharmacy inventory; checking donated medications to ensure their safety and viability for patients; supporting the pharmacy’s licensing; assisting patients directly, and more. Our Values

1. RemediChain strives to solve the financial and environmental problems of prescription waste.

No viable prescription drugs should be wasted while a patient goes without lifesaving medications.

2. Price should not prevent patients from accessing the medications they need.

We help connect unused, unexpired medications from patients who don’t need them with patients who do.

3. Make prescription donation and reuse an accessible and acceptable practice across the world.

RemediChain has made great strides in making prescription donation legal in the United States, and we are actively working to make dispensing those drugs legal nationwide. Eventually, such a program can and should be global in nature. Read about our organization’s efforts towards these changes here.
